Pakistan's Javed Miandad accuses Virat Kohli, team India of 'fulfilling political means'

Former Pakistan cricketer Javed Miandad has accused Indian skipper Virat Kohli and team India of fulfilling political means when the sported army caps earlier this year.

Indian cricket team wore the army caps during the third ODI against Australia in Ranchi on 8th March to keep alive the memory of CRPF jawans who lost their lives in the Pulwama terror attack.

Pakistan called on the International Cricket Council (ICC) to take action against India for involving politics into the sports.

However, the international cricket body stated that India had asked for permission and was given the thumbs up to don the army cap.

Javed Miandad’s statement came after he was seen wearing an army cap during the ongoing Test series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi, which marked the return of Test cricket to Pakistan.

Former Sri Lanka cricketer Bandula Warnapura were invited as special guest for the first Test.

When questioned why he wore an army cap, “I wore an army cap just to show love for my army, and nothing else. I wanted to be a soldier and I used to wear such caps often during my childhood.

“Virat Kohli and the Indian team wore army caps for fulfilling political means but I didn’t.”
