No World T20 in 2018 as ICC sticks to its calendar

The seventh edition of the ICC T20 World Cup, which was supposed to be held in 2018, has been scrapped and will be held in 2020.

"We had a discussion to have additional tournament in 2018 but after discussion we have decided to stick to the calendar," according to media in-charge of the International Cricket Council (ICC).

The venue of the World T20 in 2020 is, however, yet to be decided.

The previous World T20s were held in South Africa (2007), England (2009), West Indies (2010), Sri Lanka (2012), Bangladesh (2014) and India (2016).

The last World T20 was won by West Indies in a thrilling final against England at the Eden Gardens.

It is reported that the delay is because the top member nations will be busy with bilateral commitments in 2018.

India is set to be play three series away starting with South Africa, followed by England and Australia. The next Champions Trophy in 2021 is set to be played in India.

The next Champions Trophy is scheduled in 2021 in India and as of now, it is still on.
