MS Dhoni is aiming to break Sachin Tendulkar's record in New Zealand
MS Dhoni has been in top form since he made his comeback to India’s ODI squad during the recently concluded tour of Australia. Now, just two days away from locking horns with New Zealand, Dhoni is eyeing to break Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar’s record. Dhoni, with 456 runs in 10 matches, is currently third in the list of India’s leading run-scorer in ODI cricket.
The former Indian skipper is behind Sachin Tendulkar (652 runs in 18 matches) and Virender Sehwag (598 runs in 12 matches), hence, Dhoni requires 197 runs to surpass ‘God of cricket’ Sachin Tendulkar and add another milestone to his name.
MS Dhoni helped India clinch the ODI series against the Kangaroos and this was the first time in 71-years that India won an away bilateral ODI series against Australia on Australian soil. India won the series by 2-1 with MS Dhoni hitting a hat-tricks of half-centuries. Dhoni was also awarded with the Player of the series award for his outstanding performances in all three matches.
Earlier in the month, India also made another history by winning a Test series for the first time in Australia. India won the series by 2-1 as the last match was drawn due to rain. India will now play against the Kiwis in New Zealand for a five-match ODI series starting from January 23 and a three-match T20I series.
