MS Dhoni feels CSK can never become a great fielding side, coach Stephen Fleming agrees
Chennai Super Kings might be a lethal force in the Indian Premier League but it can never be a good fielding side feels coach Stephen Fleming echoed MS Dhoni's opinion. The main reason behind that is the average age of the team is above 32 and it is not possible to expect them to field well on the pitch.
Earlier skipper MS Dhoni also pointed out the same reason and said I do not expect them to field incredibly well as we as a team are too old, we can only make impact through our bowling and batting. CSK dropped many catches in their match against Mumbai Indians, which they lost by 37 runs.
“We are never going to be great (as a fielding group). We know that we can see that. It is one of the downsides of maybe having athletes who are a bit older. But we are okay with that,” ESPN Cricinfo quoted Stephen Fleming, as saying.
“Usually our catching has been very good that we’ve worked on. I thought we were a little bit placid with the movement around the field. We have to be at our best. We’ll address that. It is often a barometer to pressure,” Fleming added.
Chennai Super Kings will play Kings XI Punjab in their next match at MA Chidambaram Stadium on April 6. Chennai Super Kings currently sits at number three on the points table, while Kings XI Punjab is at number two. Both the teams have won equal number of matches and have six points each but because of their net run rate the rankings differ.
