Kieron Pollard on brink of joining Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo in elite T20I list
West Indies were comprehensively beaten in the first T20I match of their three match series against India on Friday in Hyderabad. While Evin Lewis and Shimron Hetmyer were two leading run-getters for the visiting side, it was the 19 ball 37 runs from captain Kieron Pollard that took their score past 200 mark.
On Sunday, the two heavyweights will come face to face in the second game and Pollard will have an opportunity to join Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo and Marlon Samuels in an elite T20I list.
Currently, the West Indies skipper has 990 runs to his name, and will be looking to become the fourth West Indies cricketer ever to score 1000 runs in the shortest format of the game when he takes the field in Thiruvavavthapuram on Sunday.
On the other hand, team India will be looking to improve the bowling and fielding department to match their phenomenal batting performance when they face the Caribbean side in the second T20 match, eyeing to seal the series.
India had claimed the season’s first T20I series win at home last month, defeating Bangladesh 2-1.
