Kane Williamson all praise for Rohit Sharma ahead of semi-final against India
New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson was all praise for Indian opener Rohit Sharma ahead of their semi-final clash against India. Williamson said that Rohit Sharma is the best batsman in the World Cup so far. Williamson praised Rohit and said that the batsman has been the standout performer in the tournament so far.
“Rohit has been the standout batsman in this tournament so far. Without a doubt, he has been superb in this World Cup,” Williamson told reporters in the pre-match press conference.
Rohit has scored five centuries and one half-century from the eight matches he played in the World Cup so far and is also the highest run-scorer in the tournament. Rohit has 647 runs to his name so far in the World Cup and he recently broke Sri Lanka legend Kumar Sangakkara’s record of scoring four centuries in a single edition of World Cup.
Rohit is on verge of breaking legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar’s record of scoring the most number of runs in a single World Cup. Rohit is just 27 runs away from breaking the record. Sachin’s other record is also under threat if Rohit scores one more century. Rohit will become the batsman with the highest number of centuries in the World Cup as he has already equalled Sachin’s record of six.
India will face New Zealand in the first semi-final of World Cup 2019 at Old Trafford, Manchester on July 9.
