Jason Roy gets overexcited, pushes umpire after hitting his first World Cup century; see video

Jason Roy scored his first World Cup century against Bangladesh today and it was a moment of joy for the England batsman but his overexcitement got umpire Joel Wilson into trouble. Jason Roy was cruising towards a hundred and he hit Mustafizur Rahman for a four to bring up his century.

After hitting the short ball towards square leg Roy ran for a single and both him and the umpire were watching the ball go to the boundary and that resulted in the clash.

This was 9th ODI century for Jason Roy and second back to back at Cardiff as he last hit 120 against Australia last year. With Roy’s century England now has three hundred in World Cup 2019, their highest in tournament’s history. Joe Root and Jos Buttler hit a hundred each against Pakistan in England’s second World Cup match.

Jason Roy with 77 innings became the fifth quickest batsman to reach 9th ODI hundred, Hashim Amla of South Africa tops the list with 52 innings. Quinton de Kock, Babar Azam and Shikhar Dhawan are the other batsmen on the list.

England posted the highest total of World Cup 2019 as they scored 386 runs from 50 overs. Jason Roy hit 153 off 121 balls, while Jonny Bairstow hit 51 and Jos Buttler scored 64 runs in the process.
