IPL 2018: Delhi Daredevil's skipper Gautam Gambhir wants to end his IPL career with a last win for the team

Delhi Daredevils skipper Gautam Gambhir has recently said in a press conference that the present squad of the team has the capability to take the team to a win. The much-awaited eleventh season of the IPL will kick start on April 7 and the first match will be played between CSK and Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium. Notably, Delhi Daredevils has never been able to lift the trophy in the history of Indian Premier League.

Gautam Gambhir is the player who led his team KKR to the victory in the 2012 and 2014 editions. Gambhir has earlier played for Delhi in years 2008, 2009 and 2010. However, He was appointed the captain of the KKR in 2011.

While addressing the press conference in Delhi on March 5, Gambhir said,

“This is the opportunity for the 25 people sitting in a dressing room to create history this time.” Answering the question about if 2018 will be his last appearance in the IPL, Gambhir replied-

“After being picked by DD for this IPL season, I said that ‘you are lucky enough if you start your career with a franchise and you get an opportunity to end your tenure with the same team’. I am the fortunate one that I am back with DD side with whom I started my IPL career. But it doesn’t mean that this is my last season.”

 

Gambhir was bought by Delhi Daredevils for a sum of Rs 2.8 crore during the IPL 2018 auction orgnaized in Bangluru.

“We have 25 players in the dressing room. They are lucky to be the part DD and they got to understand that. Whenever they get the chance to play they make sure that they win the game for DD. That’s the bottom line,” former Australia captain and DD coach Ricky Ponting said in the press conference.
