India vs Australia: Team India to take call on injured Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan tomorrow
The men in blue will take a decision on injured Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan ahead of the final ODI in Bengaluru on Sunday. While, Shikhar Dhawan did not come out to field due to a blow on his rib cage while batting , Rohit pulled away in the 43rd over of the Australian innings after a shoulder niggle.
The team management is closely monitoring the openers and will decide on their availability before the final ODI at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
"Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma are progressing well. Their recovery is being closely monitored and a call on their participation in the final ODI will be taken tomorrow before the match,” said BCCI.
Talking after the match, Indian skipper Virat Kohli gave an update on Rohit's injury and said: "I asked Rohit briefly just now. It's that left shoulder which has popped out a few times. There's no tear, so hopefully he should be back for the next game."
Regarding Shikhar Dhawan, BCCI had furnished a statement on Friday. "Shikhar Dhawan got hit on the rib-cage on his right side. He will not be taking the field today," BCCI said.
While Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli both scored half centuries, it was K.L. Rahul who stole the limelight with his performance at the end of the India innings. Speaking after the game, Rahul said that watching videos of the likes of Steve Smith, AB de Villiers and Kane Williamson helped him.
"I just spoke a lot more to middle-order batsmen. I watched a lot of videos, I spoke a lot to Virat (Kohli), watched a lot of videos of AB or Steve Smith for the matter on how they build their innings," Rahul said at the post-match press conference on Friday after India defeated Australia by 36 runs.
"Kane Williamson, who I have tried to go back and watch some of his videos to see how they build their innings, and how they play in certain situations.
"Only thing I have tried is how to be better in certain situations. And reading of the game has got a lot better now that I have played in different positions," he added.
