India creates history, breaks 4 world records against Australia in World Cup 2019

India won their second World Cup match against Australia by 36 runs to take their points tally to 4. India after batting first bundled out Australia for 316 runs. 

During the 14th ICC World Cup match between India and Australia, Virat Kohli and company broke few records. After making 352 in the first innings India registered their best World Cup total against Australia and best by any team in World Cups against Australia. No team in World Cup has ever scored more than 350 against Australia which the Indian team broke today.

With Shikhar Dhawan scoring a fantastic century, India became the team with the highest number of hundreds in World Cups as their tally reads 27. Australia is trailing behind India as they have 26 centuries to their name.

Rohit Sharma surpassed Sachin Tendulkar to register the quickest 2000 runs against any team in ODI cricket. Rohit Sharma took 37 innings to score 2000 plus runs against Australia, while Sachin Tendulkar took 40 innings to achieve the same milestone. Sachin’s fastest 2000 was also against Australia. Other players who feature in the list are Sir Viv Richards – 44 against Australia, Indian skipper Virat Kohli – 44 against Sri Lanka and MS Dhoni – 45 against Sri Lanka.

India is playing against Australia in their second World Cup match and Virat Kohli chose to bat first after winning the toss. Indian batting attack posted a huge total of 352 runs in 50 overs with Shikhar Dhawan scoring a fantastic century. Indian skipper Virat Kohli scored 82 runs off 77 balls, while vice-captain Rohit Sharma scored 57 and Hardik Pandya scored a quick 48 runs.
