Ind vs NZ, 1st T20I: New Zealand recall this explosive batsman ahead the series against India
After getting thrashed in three-match One Day International series against India by 2-1, the Kiwi team is all set to return the favour in three-match T20 International match against men-in-blue starting from 1 November.
The explosive New Zealand batter Ross Taylor, who had played his last T20 International in March 2016, has been called back in the Kiwi team for T20I series. Ross Taylor is being recalled to New Zealand team to replace the injured bowling all-rounder Todd Astle. The leg-spinner was called back to his country after he sustained a groin strain in the warm-up match with Board President's XI at the Brabourne stadium.
The reason why Taylor is being recalled after a year is that he had performed well in the recently concluded series. The explosive batsman had even hit a century in warm-up match against Board President's XI.
The New Zealand coach Mike Hesson said that "Ross [Taylor] is in good form as well. He gives us another option through the middle order. It's a real shame for Todd, but it will be nice to have Ross' experience in the group."
The Kiwi team will start its journey as world No 1 ranked team. "We're No. 1 in the world at the moment (for T20). We've got the bulk of the squad we've had for a while with some fresh and exciting faces as well. Once again, it's a tough challenge here playing India in India," the head coach further said.
New Zealand T20I squad: Kane Williamson (c), Mitchell Santner, Ish Sodhi, Tim Southee, Ross Taylor, Trent Boult, Tom Bruce, Colin de Grandhomme, Martin Guptill, Matt Henry, Tom Latham, Henry Nicholls, Adam Milne, Colin Munro and Glenn Phillips (wk).
