Congratulations poured in from all corner of the world after Ben Stokes helped England win the third Test match against Australia. England made an unbelievable comeback to chase down a record target of 359 runs and Ben Stokes was at forefront of it.
Stokes scored an unbeaten 135 runs including 8 sixes and 11 fours. The knock from Ben Stokes is one of the greatest in Ashes history. Stokes bettered his World Cup innings and helped England register another history.
Former English cricketer Graeme Swann even went on to the extent to say that if he had a sister he would want her to marry Ben Stokes. Swann took to his official Twitter account to share a message where he wrote, “I have no sister but if I did I’d want her to marry Ben Stokes.”
England had never chased more than 350 runs in the history of Ashes cricket but last night Ben Stokes changed that as he helped his team chase down 359 runs. Australia needed just 1 wicket to win when tailsman Jack Leach came down to bat and England needed 73 runs at that point of the game.
Leach stayed on the pitch until the last run was scored by his team-mate Ben Stokes. Australia lost a review in the last hour of the game which cost them later when they needed it. Television replays showed Ben Stokes was lbw off Nathan Lyon's delivery but there was no DRS left.
