All eyes set on MS Dhoni as team India aims for 2 points against West Indies

MS Dhoni who is yet to show his skills with the bat will be team managements major concern when India will face depleted West Indies in the league round clash of the ongoing ICC World Cup on Thursday.

As the intensity increases with league rounds coming to the final stretch, team India will look for a smooth passage into the final four with yet another win. But this is not going to be easy as it may seem against a team like West Indies, who have nothing to lose in their remaining few fixtures.

MS Dhoni’s poor performance against Afghanistan, where he scored 28 runs off 52 balls, earned him a lot of criticisms, even Sachin Tendulkar went on to question the former skipper.

"There was no positive intent," said Sachin.

With team management aware of the fact and with only four group matches to play, they are left with very less options, and that is to alter Dhoni’s batting order with the likes of Kedar Jadhav’s, who can be a little more innovative in his shot selection.

Going into the match against West Indies, who is loaded with pacers. MS Dhoni could find it a bit easier to rotate strike as he hasn’t been comfortable against the slow bowlers.

There have been many contentions about Dhoni’s batting in the IPL compared to his style in the ODI’s when he plays for india,

Dhoni, while playing in the IPL for CSK, would in every occasion target one of the Indian domestic bowlers while playing safe cricket against the bigger international players. Which he has been lacking during the World Cup 2019. A strategy needs to be worked around Dhoni to place him at a position on which he can express himself freely.

With his contribution behind the wickets an absolute necessity, the coach and the skipper have to work on tactical aspect.

On the other hand, West Indies will look to end their campaign on a higher note after their early exit from the tournament, with Andre Russell being ruled out with an injury for the rest of the matches.

With that being said, West Indies’ fast bowling unit has been outstanding and have been showing great potential including the young pace duo of Sheldon Cotterell and Oshane Thomas.

With Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma displaying great form with the bat, it promises to be a mouth watering clash.

Although, it is going to be a tougher test for the men in blue, team India still remain favourites to win.
