'I am too expensive to afford', this is what Shane Warne has to say on India coach job
Australian former spinner Shane Warne on 6 June cleared air on India coach job saying that, “I am too expensive to afford” for team India.
“I am very expensive, I don’t think they can afford me. Virat Kohli and me can have a good partnership, but as I said, I am very, very expensive,” Shane Warne was quoted as saying by Mid-Day.
The former spinner took on micro-blogging site and Tweeted, “Indian coaching position. I was in a lift and was asked if I would put my hat in the ring I said “India can’t afford me” tongue in cheek!”
He continued Tweeting and added, “@imVkohli & I would work well together as a quote, this is totally made up. I never said that to anyone, very disappointing journalism”
Current head coach Kumble's contract as head coach will end post-India's campaign at the Champions Trophy and the BCCI has already invited applications for the position.
Virender Sehwag, Tom Moody, Richard Pybus, Lalchand Rajput, and Dodda Ganesh have applied for the post of India's head coach-who all will be interviewed by Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), which consists of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman.
