The 'run machine' of Indian team Virat Kohli is known for his record-breaking spree. The Indian skipper has broken so many records and he is also on the verge of breaking so many records. Recently, Virat Kohli became the fastest 9000 run-getter in the One Day International. Now the cricketer has completed his 5000 runs in the longest format of the game. By doing so, Virat had also become the 11th over-all Indian and 4th quickest Indian to do so after Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, and Virender Sehwag.
In the first inning of the series decider match, the Indian skipper continued his century scoring spree by hitting his sixth double century in the ongoing Test series against Sri Lanka at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium in New Delhi.
Virat Kohli has even managed to leave ace footballer Lionel Messi behind in terms of brand value. Virat is the only sportsperson from India to feature in the world's 100 highest paid sportsman in the latest Forbes list. Virat was also featured in the ESPN's list of world's most famous sportsperson at the seventh spot.

1- In the series decider match against Sri Lanka, Virat hit his second double century of the series and 6th overall double tons of his cricketing career. And by doing so the Indian skipper equals the records of the maximum number of double centuries by an Indian. Previously cricket great Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag had also scored six double centuries.
2- Indian skipper Virat Kohli by completing his sixth double century becomes the only captain to do so. Before Kohli, the record was held by legendary cricketer Brian Lara who has five double centuries in his name.
3- Virat Kohli is the sixth player across the globe and second Indian after Vinod Kambli to hit double tons in two consecutive matches. Virat scored 213 runs in the second Test match against Islanders and 243 runs in the final match between Sri Lanka and India.
4- Virat Kohli had scored three double centuries in the calendar year 2017. And by doing so Virat becomes the sixth batsman to do so. Kohli had achieved this feat twice. He had also scored three double hundred in the year 2016.
5- Virat Kohli broke his own record by scoring 243 runs (this is the highest individual innings by any Indian captain in the longest format of the game). The previous record was also held by Virat (235 against England) himself.
6- Indian skipper Virat Kohli becomes the 13th overall player to hit two or more double centuries in a series.
7- Virat Kohli had broken the 62-year-old record of Bert Sutcliffe and now he also holds the records of highest score (243) at Feroz Shah Kotla. The last record was held by Bert Sutcliffe who had scored an unbeaten 230 runs against India.

8- Indian skipper is the third captain (Other two includes Sunil Gavaskar (3449) and MS Dhoni (3454)) from India's side to score 3000 runs and 5th fastest to do so after Don Bradman (37 innings), Mahela Jayawardene (48), Graham Gooch (49) and Steve Smith (49). Kohli had taken only 50 innings to achieve this feat.
9- Virat Kohli is the fourth fastest player from India's side to score 5000 runs and 11th overall Indian to do so.
10- Virat Kohli had also become the second highest number of centuries holder after Don Bradman while scoring 5000 runs in the Test cricket. Legendary cricketers Sunil Gavaskar and Matthew Hayden also hold 20 centuries.
11- Indian captain Virat Kohli also holds the record of hitting three consecutive centuries (104* at Kolkata, 213 in Nagpur and 243 in Delhi) in a three-match Test series and by doing so he becomes the sixth player to do so.
