With Indian cricketer Hardik Pandya’s expected comeback getting postponded after he failed the fitness test, India’s limited overs squads are improbablely to be fiddled with much for the forth coming tour of New Zealand. Starting 24th January, India will be taking part in five T20Is, three ODIs and two Test matches, and the squad for the tour will be selected on Sunday.
The all-rounder was expected to make his comeback for the national side after staying out of action for four months because of a back injury but Hardik could not pass the mandatory fitness test, indicating that it will take him more time to recuperate from the surgery he recently underwent.
The men in blue will be take part in eight white ball games in New Zealand, and it will be captivating to see if the selectors pick a 16 or 17 member squad, in place of 15.
With the India A shadow tour coinciding with the seniors’ visit, it gives the selectors a choice to draft players on emergency basis if required.
The selection committee will mainly focus on zeroing in on the core for white ball cricket keeping in mind that this is a T20 World Cup year.
While the T20I team that played Sri Lanka in the recently concluded series all but picks itself, Hardik Pandya was expected to be included once he proved his fitness in the warm up games.
