England never deserved to win says World Cup-winning captain Eoin Morgan

England's World Cup-winning captain Eoin Morgan said that the result against New Zealand was not fair. Morgan in an interview to the Times said that he couldn’t justify if England deserved to win the World Cup.

“I don’t think it’s fair to have a result like that when there’s very little between the sides,” Morgan said while adding, “I don’t think there was one moment that you could say: ‘That actually cost the game there.’ It was quite balanced. I’m black and white. I’m normally going: ‘I know. I was there, that happened.’ [But] I can’t stick my finger on where the game was won and lost,” Morgan was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.

“I’m not sure winning it makes it any easier,” he said. “A little bit [troubled], because there’s no defining moment that you’d say: ‘Yes, we thoroughly deserved it.’ It’s just been crazy,” Morgan added.

Both New Zealand and England scored the equal number of runs in the final and the match was ended in a tie. The first super over of ODI cricket was played in the final of World Cup and that ended in a tie as well. England and New Zealand scored 241 runs each, in the super over they scored 15 runs each but the cup was awarded to England because of their superior boundary rate.
