Christchurch Mosques Shooting: Bangladesh Vs New Zealand Test match at Hagley Oval cancelled
Post mass shootings at a crowded mosque in the New Zealand city of Christchurch, Test match between Bangladesh and New Zealand at Hagley Oval scheduled to begin tomorrow has been cancelled after shooting at a mosque in Christchurch, New Zealand.
"A joint decision between NZC and [Bangladesh] has been made to cancel the Hagley Oval Test," New Zealand Cricket chief executive David White said.
The Bangladesh cricket team on Friday escaped Christchurch mosque near Hagley Park where a deadly mass shooting took place on Friday afternoon. They were scheduled to play New Zealand a short distance away at Hagley Oval on Saturday.
Bangladesh Cricket Board spokesman Jalal Yunus sai, "They are safe. But they are mentally shocked. We have asked the team to stay confined in the hotel."
The police have confirmed shootings at "two locations". New Zealand police deployed armed officers in central Christchurch as shooter still ‘active’.
One of the mosques, where a shooter opened fire--- Masjid al Noor was filled with worshippers, including members of the Bangladesh cricket team. Bangladesh team narrowly escaped New Zealand mosque shooting.
