Blind Cricket World Cup: After lifting the trophy, emotional Indian team waiting for recognition in nation

Indian players have returned home after winning the Blind World Cup 2018. On Tuesday, all the players reached the Central Park of Connaught Place with the winning trophy and the Indian flag. There was a change in the weather and lightning was also happening. There was no shortage of enthusiasm for the victory of the players due to the rain. Someone from the crowd said that the rain is welcoming the team. According to the Hindustan Times, member of Indian cricket team member, Mahendra Vaishnav said that it was raining even when we landed in the UAE for the tournament and it is still happening today. All players are very happy with their victory.

Despite this success, the team players are yearning for their identities. Players only have the support of the government. On the other hand, it is also a big thing for the team that the Cricket Association for the Blind has not yet got recognition from the BCCI. Players have to face a lot of trouble getting the facilities for the game. Captain Ajay Reddy is celebrating the joy of winning on one hand and on the other hand he is very disappointed too.

Reddy, with a mixture of disappointment and anger, said: “In Pakistan, the blind cricket team gets support from the PCB. There is a budget for them. When they won the World Cup in 2002, they got official recognition. They are getting regular salaries, government jobs and special rewards while playing. They have won only two World Cups, we have won five, yet we don’t have stability.”

“Sachin (Tendulkar) sir and PM Narendra Modi are tweeting congratulations, but no one comes out and offers support. We don’t need tweets,” Ajay Reddy added.

Reddy beamed: “In the final, Pakistan was under pressure, having lost consistently to us. Whatever be the situation, even if it comes to laying down our lives, we are determined to win against them.”
