Bangladeshi spinner Mahmudullah Riyad pulled-off a weird bowling action against New Zealand XI ahead of the three-match Test and ODI series. The 33-year-old spinner is known as an effective bowler in limited-overs cricket and has picked up some prized wickets.
Riyad was playing at Bert Sutcliffe when he experimented with his bowling action to disturb the focus of the batsmen. Generally, his action starts from behind the umpire, but in one of those balls, he started his run-up sideways.
In the last delivery, the Riyad pulled-off something very bizarre. In general, spinners aren’t known for leaping prior to releasing the ball. However, Riyad made a massive jump and went quite a distance up in the air. The delivery went horribly wrong and it turned out to be a full-toss, the batsman utilized it nicely as he hit it for a boundary.
He performed well with his bat as he scored 72 runs off 88 balls including 10 boundaries, batting at number six. He also picked up two crucial wickets of Sean Solia and Finn Allen.
