Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma sustained an injury while training at the nets before match against Kings XI Punjab. Sharma was seen collapsing on the field as he was seen clutching his thighs before he was carried off the field by team physio Nitin Patel. If Sharma is not fit before World Cup, India's chances in the tournament will be under clouds.
Rohit Sharma is a regular in team India set-up and his spot as an opener is confirmed. But Rohit’s injury came as a bad news for his fans and most importantly for the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India). If Rohit Sharma doesn’t recover until May, team India will face a huge crisis at the World Cup.
Rohit Sharma along with Shikhar Dhawan have notched up more than 3000 runs in partnership and if Rohit is not fit until World Cup, team India, Virat Kohli and BCCI are going to face a dilemma. There is an important fact to know that Rohit Sharma has missed an IPL match for the first in 11 years.
Sharma did not play against Kings XI Punjab yesterday but stand-in captain Kieron Pollard took his team to an amazing victory. Mumbai won the match by 3 wickets and Pollard entertained the crowd with his power hitting performance.
Sharma made his debut for team India in 2007 against Ireland and has scored 8,010 runs from 206 matches at an average of 47.04. Sharma has 22 ODI centuries to his name along with 41 half-centuries. Sharma is also the only batsman in the world to hit three double-tons.
Sharma’s debut in Test cricket came in five years later in 2013, he has 1,585 runs from 27 matches which includes three centuries and 10 half-centuries. From 94 T20I matches, Sharma has scored 2,331 runs with four centuries and 16 half-centuries.
