After South Africa lost their third consecutive match in World Cup 2019 former captain AB de Villiers shared a motivational message on social media. The former South African batsman took to his official Twitter handle to share a post for his ex-teammates.
AB de Villiers wrote, “All that’s important is that we should all focus on supporting the team at the World Cup. There is a long way to go and I believe the boys can still go all the way #ProteaFire.”
AB de Villiers retired from international cricket in May 2018 and only plays T20 tournaments. AB de Villiers retirement came as a shock as he was playing good cricket.
South Africa lost to India by 6 wickets in a low scoring match as Indian bowlers demolished the Proteas batting line-up. South Africa was already 2-0 down when they came in to play against India in Southampton.
Key South African players were also injured and did not play against India. Lungi Ngidi and Dale Steyn were out of the team as South Africa played with two less fast bowlers. While their batting side disappointed them yet again as no batsmen crossed 50-run mark.
