Budget 2019: Piyush Goyal announces big sop for farmers, Rs 6,000 to be transferred directly to farmers' bank accounts
Union Finance Minister Piyush Goyal has announced a big political sop to the farmers, giving Rs 6,000 annually to every farmer by transferring the benefit directly to their accounts.
The government has announced that every farmer who will have less than 2 hectares of land would receive the Rs 6,000 benefit that would be directly transferred in their accounts in 3 installments across the year.
Piyush Goyal said, “Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, 6000 rupees per year for each farmer, in three instalments, to be transferred directly to farmers' bank accounts, for farmers with less than 2 hectares landholding.”
Goyal has added that “Instead of rescheduling of crop loans, the farmers severely affected by natural calamities will get 2% interest subvention and additional 3% interest subvention upon timely repayment.”
With such initiative, the government will incur an amount of Rs 75,000 crore and the scheme will benefit 12 crore small and marginal farmers households.
Detailing about the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, Piyush Goyal added in the parliament saying, “Ayushman Bharat the world's largest healthcare programme was launched to provide medical care to almost 50 crore people, resulting in 3,000 crore savings by poor families.”
Ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the big move of the BJP government is being seen as the GDP growth rate has been again revised by the current dispensation from 6.7% to 7.2% for 2017-18.
The Ministry of Statistics has said that the GDP growth rate has seen an upward rise of 7.2% from the provisional estimate of 6.7% in May 2018. Adding on to revising the data, the government also reversed the 2016-17 growth rate to 8.2%
