As you all know that due to the restriction imposed by the government, no one can step out of their houses for unnecessary reasons. In the beginning, the 21-day nationwide lockdown was announced by PM Modi from March 25 to April 14 in a bid to control the virus. But, after the continuous surge in the positive cases, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended the lockdown till May 3. During this tenure, only essential services are allowed to run.
In a recent order, the government also announced that all the non-essential shops will remain closed during the lockdown. Amid such chaos, people will celebrate the Akshaya Tritiya festival.
If you are thinking that you won’t be able to buy gold this festive season then, you are wrong as you have an online option to purchase gold on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya.
During a lockdown, jewelers are offering online facilities to consumers by asking them to purchase the gold from sitting their homes and get their purchased product at their doorsteps.
Prominent jewelry brands like Tanishq, Titan have come up with an idea of selling gold online through their e-commerce website.
“We have launched new technology initiatives such as video calling feature, live assisted chat on our website and setting up of a remote war room to resolve any customer query in real-time to name a few,” said Ajoy Chawla, CEO, Jewellery Division at Titan Company Limited, as quoted by Livemint.
Even Kalyan jeweler has announced the sale of gold ownership certificated through online platform due to the COVID-19 lockdown.
“What makes this unique is that upon confirmation, customers will receive this certificate via email or WhatsApp on the day of Akshaya Tithi,” Kalyan Jewelers Managing Director TS Kalyanaraman told news agency PTI.
Amid lockdown, fintech companies—Paytm and PhonePe have also started seeling 24 carats physical and digital gold. They have started this service under the partnership with Metals and Minerals Trading Corporation of India (MMTC) and SA Produits Artistiques Métaux Précieux (PAMP).
During the lockdown, the prices of gold on Friday have increased by Rs 315 to Rs 46,742 per 10 grams in futures trade as speculators created fresh positions on firm spot demand.
This year's Akshaya Tritiya will be celebrated on April 26.
