Veteran actor Vikram Gokhale critical, says wife: ‘Not responding to treatment’

Veteran Bollywood actor Vikram Gokhale has been critical since the last 24 hours, his wife Vrushali Gokhale was quoted as saying by ANI. She further added the doctors were doing their best, however, the veteran actor was ‘not responding to the treatment as expected’.

The veteran actor’s wife had earlier said Vikram suffered from multiple organ failure. The 82-year-old actor has been undergoing treatment at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital in Pune for the last couple of days.

“Vikram Gokhale is critical since the last 24 hours. Doctors are trying their best. He is not responding to the treatment as expected. He has multiple organ failures,” Vrushali said as per ANI.

Earlier, she had also refuted reports suggesting the actor’s demise. On Thursday, news of the actor's death had emerged on social media following which many celebrities including Ajay Devgn and Riteish Deshmukh had shared their condolences on the internet.

In the meantime, the actor’s daughter, identified as Neha Gokhale had said that her father's health was critical and he continued to be on life support. "He is still critical and on life support. Keep praying for him," Neha said Thursday.

Previously, Vrushali Gokhale, while speaking with Times of India, had stated that Vikram Gokhale was on ventilator after he slipped into coma. "He slipped into coma yesterday afternoon and post that, he has not responded to touch. He is on ventilator. Doctors will decide tomorrow morning what to do, depending on whether he's improving, sinking or still not responding. He improved a bit but slipped again. He has had a host of issues, like in heart and kidney. At the moment, he has had a multi-organ failure,” she had said.

The veteran actor was last seen in Nikamma (2022) alongside Shilpa Shetty. He has acted in many Marathi and Bollywood films over the past few decades, including Agneepath (1990), and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999).
