Romantic films have always been a successful option for the Bollywood filmmakers, especially for good earnings. The couples come to theatres in large numbers to watch these films. It becomes much interesting when the filmmakers end the love stories to a tragedic climax. We have many examples of tragic ending love stories in Bollywood which set a trend in between the audience.

10. Awarapan (2007)

Mohit Suri directorial this film was a love story of a gangster Shivam (Emraan Hashmi) who has lost his love. In the end, Shivam helps another couple to save from gangsters. This was a good hit at the box office.

9. Tere Naam (2003)

Salman Khan was the star of this film, Tere Naam was Satish Kaushik's film which itself was a remake of a Tamil film. Salman who was a ruthless college student falls in love with a simple sweet girl but as he met with an accident he lost his memory. On the other hand, his loving lady suicides.

8. Ishaqzaade (2012)

This film of Habib Faisal introduced Arjun Kapoor in the filmdom. Ishaqzaade was a conceptual love story taking the centre of inter-religion love story. In the end, the both lovers kill themselves to save from each other's family.

7. Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela (2013)

Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone starring this film had directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. This was a love story between the rivals, however many didn't connect with the climax of the film when both lovers kill each other, as when everything was in their favour.

6. Aashiqui 2 (2013)

Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor starrer film was a sequel to 1990 released film Aashiqui. Although it was a sequel but its climax was totally different from the previous one. Aditya played the alcoholic singer who can't live without wine, so he decided to suicide.

5. Jannat (2008)

Emraan Hashmi starring this film Jannat was a love story of cricket match bookie who gets so much money through illegal work but his girlfriend is not ready to live that dangerous life. At the end, when he is going to do everything right, he lost his life.

4. Rockstar (2011)

This film of Imtiaz Ali was a journey of a Rockstar, Jordan who wants to be a famous and one of his supporter tells him that he needs to be heartbroken to get success. Although he tries to be heartbroken, what happens he really got heartbroken when he lost his love. Ranbir nailed this film with his performance as Janardan Jhakkad.

3. Raanjhana (2013)

Tamil star Dhanush made his debut in Bollywood with this film of Aanand L Rai. It was a one-sided love story of a psycho lover, although director portrays it beautifully and the film touches many hearts. However, it was a one-sided love story so it ended also with one-sided death.

2. Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003)

Karan Johar written-produced Kal Ho Naa Ho starring Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta, and Saif Ali Khan was a great hit at the box office. Shah Rukh Khan's performance was at his own best in the film and the character of Shah Rukh was terminally-ill and was supposed to die soon. The love story creates lots of emotional drama and in the climax, it was a good love story.

1. Devdas (2002)

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film Devdas was an adaption of a book of Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay. This film was a love story of three leading characters Devdas, Paro, and Chandra Mukhi. Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai, and Madhuri Dixit played the leading roles respectively. In the climax, it had shown how Devdas took his last breath in front of his love Paro's home.
