Neena Gupta came in the limelight when she tweeted about her situation of not getting work, well, the luck turns out and the actress did an amazing performance in Badhaai Ho. The film turned out like a milestone in her career and that also helps her to get more films. Now a new addition to her is Akshay Kumar starrer Rohit Shetty directorial Soorayavanshi.
According to media reports, Neena Gupta will be playing Akshay Kumar's mother in Sooryavanshi and her role will be totally different from what she had played till now. Neena Gupta while talking a to leading daily said, "This is an interesting role because it isn’t the stereotypical mother who asks his son about food, marriage etc., but has several dimensions. There is a new temperament to the mother, and you will get to see a very different dynamic between Akshay, Katrina and me. This is a new, sweet and interesting space that I am looking to explore."
Neena Gupta also excited of working with Rohit Shetty, the masala entertainer who always adds commercial elements to his characters. She said, "I am happy that more people will get to see my work. Rohit has made some amazing films which have been appreciated by the audience."
Let us tell you that Neena Gupta got Filmfare Best Actress Critics award for Badhaai Ho. She said, "Badhaai Ho has given me a hit that I have wanted since I came into the industry 35-40 years ago. I have done many films before this, but not a lot of people saw my work."
Talking about Sooryavanshi, Akshay Kumar will be seen in the role of an ATS chief Veer Sooryavanshi. Katrina Kaif is collaborating with Akshay after 9 years gap and she will play her love interest. After completing the Mumbai schedule, the team will head to Bangkok to shoot Akshay's introduction part. The film will also be shot in Hyderabad and Goa and it is slated to release Eid next year.
