Plagiarism: Anurag Kashyap came in support of Newton, showed film to Secret Ballot makers
Rajkummar Rao starring film Newton has been hit at the box office and it is also been nominated for Oscars 2018. Since the film was nominated for Oscars, an issue has been raised that it is a copy of an Irani film Secret Ballot. On this plagiarism issue, Anurag Kashyap once again has come in support of the film Newton. He has cleared it through a Facebook post that Newton is not a copy of Secret Ballot.
Anurag Kashyap wrote Facebook post - With over enthusiastic media and our cinephiles with over active imagination .. who called "Newton" a copy of "Secret Ballot" ..here is what the producer of "Secret Ballot " said to me after watching Newton. I requested the link of Newton from its director and send it to Marco Muller , the producer. And he wrote back "A pretty decent film, definitely no rip off from our Secret Ballot (even if the general concept is the same )" and then I asked him if I can share his response on Social Media ? He replied ,"please feel free as you see fit, there is not even a hint of plagiarisation".
Let me tell you that earlier also Anurag Kashyap came in support of the film. On the whole issue, he tweeted.
Not only this when Newton impressed everyone at the box office and it is doing good at the box office. Then many controversies regarding this film are coming out. Earlier it was told copy of Secret Ballot and now it is being told that the poster of the film is copied from Satyajit Rey's film Ganshatru.
