Padmavati: Ranveer Singh - Deepika Padukone's next to be the costliest Bollywood film?
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor has been surrounded by controversies ever since it went on floors earlier this year.
While the team is currently shooting for the film, sources reveal that Bhansali’s next will be the costliest Bollywood film till date. The director is planning to mount the film on a massive budget of Rs 170 crore and an additional amount of Rs 20 crore would be invested in print and publicity.
The budget of SLB’s last directorial, Bajirao Mastani was approximately Rs 145 crore and the producers, Eros International just about broke even and managed to rake in small amount of profit. However, the biz of the film was majorly impacted in its opening weekend due to the clash with Dilwale.
Costliest Bollywood films (Approximate Budget):
- Bajirao Mastani: Rs 145 crore
- Prem Ratan Dhan Payo: Rs 130 crore
- Dhoom 3: Rs 125 crore
- Happy New Year: Rs 115 crore
This time, the director has a much bigger film on cards and the production team at Viacom 18 are confident about not just recovering the investment but also entail reasonable profits.
Though sources reveal that the film would be postponed and hit the big screen in summer 2018, producers deny such development and confirm that Padmavati will release as scheduled on November 17.
The film stars Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor in lead.
