Kesari

The film starts with Havildar Ishar Singh (Akshay Kumar)'s encounter with some Afghanis to save a woman. In this introduction part Akshay Kumar saves an Afghani woman. Now to take revenge from Sikhs, Afhgani attacks Gulistan fort to capture. However, with some bravery of Sikhs led by Ishar Singh they successful defeats Afghanis. However, as Ishar Singh denies to accept his senior British officer's orders so he gets insulted and transferred to Saragarhi fort.

Havildar Ishar Singh was sent to take charge of Saragarhi where the Afghanis have not attacked since a long time. Well, this may be the destiny that as soon Ishar Singh takes the charge of 36 Sikh Battalion in Saragarhi, Afhganis plans to attack Saragarhi. Saragarhi is a fort that is too far to take help from the British army set in Gulistan fort. Now Ishar Singh who leads the 36 Battalion shows the bravery to get his respect back and had a bravest fight ever.

DIRECTION

Kesari

Anurag Singh is quite a known face in Punjabi cinema and he has given several Punjabi hit films like Jatt & Juliet, Disco Singh, Punjab 1984 and others. It is his second film in Bollywood after his debut film Raqeeb, and he has tried to tell the bravest fight ever in the history of India. Though Anurag Singh has come with a good script and also with beautiful direction but he should have worked more on the script to make the film more crispy.

Meanwhile, Anurag Singh had worked amazingly on narrating the emotions of Sikhs and also to show the bravery the Sikhs. Especially those shots that will make you salute the Sikhs, there is one scene where a Sikh soldier dies having so many swords in his chests. Another scene where Akshay Kumar shoots a sharpshooter with his daring and sharpness mind. Overall with some low moments in the first half, second half redeem the audience to clap for the film.

PERFORMANCES

Akshay Kumar played the role of Havildar Ishar Singh and he has looked quite good in his role. Well, the costume department should have worked on his long beard. Meanwhile, his performance as Ishar Singh will make you cry, laugh, and also to salute him. Akshay Kumar is no doubt currently in his best time and he is back to back choosing brilliant scripts.

Even though, Parineeti Chopra has played the role of Akshay Kumar's wife but let me tell you that she has got Thank You from the maker for being a part of the film. Actually, most of the time in the film she is just in the imaginations of Havildar Ishar Singh. As Parineeti already has said that she just wanted to be a part of this film at any cost, so not to say much on that now.

Then there were some short roles of the other Sikh soldiers, and some Afghani invaders, especially the role of Mulla who is the leading villain of the film. New actor Rakesh Chaturvedi has got a chance to play villain Mulla in the film but I would say that he should have worked more on his accent of Afghani Hindi.

MUSIC

The film has only a few songs and that is good that the director has not forced to listen music in the film. The film has no need for much music, but despite that, the makers have brought a romantic song featured on Akshay Kumar and Parineeti, Ve Maahi sung by Arijit Singh. Then there is the last climax song Teri Mitti that will make you proud on the Sikh Soldiers.

VERDICT

Overall, the film is brilliant and amazingly picturized. A family film to watch at the Holi weekend. Especially, to watch Akshay Kumar's another finest performance in his golden time of success.
