Kangana Ranaut says one must work towards making the industry more democratic
Kangana yet again speaks about nepotism and the purpose of her journey
During the launch of Spring Summer collection of Melange by Lifestyle, the actress was clearing her stand about nepotism in reference to her controversial verbal spat with Karan Johar. Kangana says, “Nepotism is an observation but not an objection. It is not about objecting anybody’s preferences .My prerogative as an individual is to leave my footprints behind. It is important for me to talk about my own experiences. Not to say that people should not do what they like to do. But what is relevant should be relevant, someone speaks in Hindi, or someone has come for an audition in a chauffeur driven car, someone is sharing an apartment with ten people at not cool location. They should not feel shame for that. Doors shouldn’t be shut on their faces because of that.
The actress also feels because people like her are talking about such issues, the industry has become democratic. “Today in the industry we have lot more democratic environment because people like us are working. Nowadays you can see newcomers saying that I am comfortable speaking in Hindi but not in English. We have made it appear cool. So that is my prerogative and if I don’t do that then what is the purpose of my journey?”
Talking about her fight with Karan she says, “This is a healthy talk. Everyone has their own perspective but there is nothing called an outsider, we are all working to make good cinema. So anyone who is working with any other intention is an outsider. We should not call it a fight but we should work to make society democratic.”
