Jaipur City Palace, Jaigarh Fort to remain open for visitors
Amid reports of the closure of City Palace and Jaigarh Fort due to the ongoing controversy around Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat, officials confirmed that no such orders have been passed.
The response comes after members of the Rajput Karni Sena claimed that the royals of Rajasthan had assured heritage sites would be closed unless the film was banned.
In this regard, an official statement from the City Palace and Jaigarh Fort clarified that no such order was passed, and urged that such rumours be barred immediately from circulation.
"The City Palace and Jaigarh Fort in Jaipur will remain open to visitors as per it's timings on all days. The rumour of its closure being circulated is untrue. Her Highness Rajmata Sahiba of Jaipur has not passed any such instructions. We will appreciate the stopping of this rumour," the statement read.
Earlier, Karni Sena president Mahipal Makrana had said that most of the heritage sites in Rajasthan would be closed till Padmaavat was banned. He had also claimed that assurance in this regard was given from the royal family.
On a related note, Padmaavat will be released on January 25.
