A. R. Rehman has composed music for Sridevi's upcoming film Mom. The composer made a special appearance on the singing reality show Sa Re Ga Ma,to promote the film. During the media interactions, he spoke about the show, female composers and his film.
Do you feel these reality shows are good platform for aspiring singers?
Rahman: Everybody is hooked on to TV these days, so it is good to see young talent. It is also good to see how their families put in all the energy in their kids. They are getting support and exposure on national television. It is better than to see violence and bomb blasts. I don't get to watch such shows because I am traveling all the time.
You are turning director with Virtual Reality multisensory episodic Le Musk...
Rahman: I think sometimes you feel very strong about some things. You are driven by it. I think it was this story. It will give a better virtual experience of music to audience.
You recently spoke about future of women musicians, can you elaborate?
Rahman: " I have lot of females working in my team; Srinidhi, Vivian and others. I love to see that lot of women are coming into this profession. They have a different energy and they are no less than any men. They have their own characters which allows them to experiment."
Tell us about working on Mom
Rahman: "It is such an honour. I never thought I would do a music for Sridevi's film. I was her fan in my younger days. So now when she came to me and said that I have to do music for her film. I couldn't refuse. She has been an amazingly warm person."
