Here is why Subhash Ghai chose Shah Rukh Khan over Salman Khan for Pardes

Subhash Ghai directorial 1997 released film Pardes was a hit at the box office, the audience loved the film and the chemistry between Shah Rukh Khan and Mahima Chaudhary. Now after a long time, Subhash Ghai has revealed that distributors wanted to cast Salman Khan in Pardes, not Shah Rukh.

According to Subhash Ghai, distributors wanted to cast Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit in the leading roles of the film, but he didn't like the idea because Salman and Madhuri couldn't be able to judge the characters.

He further added, Rajeev's character was of an NRI so that's why any known face couldn't be cast for that role, so he decided to cast Apurva Agnihotri for the role.

Let me tell you that Mahima Chaudhary made her silver screen debut with the film Pardes and it was a marvellous debut for the actress. However, her career was not good enough as her films didn't do well at the box office after this film. Well, Mahima won best female debut Filmfare for that role.

According to Subhash Ghai, the distributors wanted to have Salman and Madhuri because that time the couple was a hit on the silver screen and their film Hum Apke Hai Koun made great records at the box office.

Well, that is a different story it is all about luck and the good roles. Let me tell you that this is not the first time when Shah Rukh had replaced Salman, actually, there are many films like Baazigar, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Chak De India, Josh, and even Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge in which Salman Khan was the first choice over Shah Rukh Khan.
