Gangs Of Wasseypur is only Indian film takes place in Guardian's 100 Best Films list, but Anurag Kashyap has a complaint
Anurag Kashyap directorial Gangs Of Wasseypur (2012) is no doubt the cult cinema of India and it really changed the face of Indian cinema to the world. The film is still relevant and time to time it makes India proud and all because of filmmaker Anurag Kashyap. After 7 years of its release, Gangs Of Wasseypur has made its place in Guardian's list of 100 Best Films of the 21st century.
Interestingly, it is only Indian film that made its place and bagged the 59th position. However, 47 years old filmmaker Anurag Kashyap is proud of its achievement, but at the same time, he also has some complaint as he thinks that his favourite films deserve a spot above his film on the list.
He shared the screenshot of the article and wrote, "Proud to be here but this wouldn't be my list. So many films which are my favourites can't be below my film.. and 'the Dark Knight' deserves to be way up. The number 1 film in the list I totally agree with. That's my absolute favourite of the 21st century."
"P.S. this is also is that film of mine that totally destroyed my filmmaking life by the expectations it sets from me as a filmmaker and has been continuously so, and I have forever been trying to break away from it. Hopefully, someday that will happen," he added.
Meanwhile, Anurag Kashyap's post got appreciation and comment from his friends and colleagues. His ex-wife and actress Kalki Koechlin commented "Yes Boss". Filmmaker Hansal Mehta wrote, "Now You are the official poster boy!"
