Designer Monisha Jaising showcased 'Opera' collection at India Couture Week 2017
Designer Monisha Jaising showcased her most colossal collection, "Opera" at the ongoing India Couture Week 2017, presented by FDCI, in New Delhi.
Inspired by the Opera, Monisha's collection harmonises with the evolution of displaying one's finery and the mesmerizing dynamics of performance on stage. Demonstrating the individuality of these fashion ensembles, the collection radiates elements of exuberant fabrics and airy silhouettes. The strong character and fragility of the Opera singer personifies the colour palette of each couture piece implementing a smooth transition from burgundy to rose pink and from metallic to ice blue.
Talking about her collection, Monisha Jaising said, "Having been to the Opera in the past, the inspiration for my collection was triggered by the fond memory of the Opera house flowing with people in their finery. I find the whole process of displaying this finery starting from the entrance, walking up the palatial stairways, to the seating area to be exceptionally enticing! You can say that it is a fashion show 'for the people by the people'."
Bollywood diva Shilpa Shetty Kundra walked for designer Monish and looked drop-dead gorgeous in opera red gold Benarasi gown. The 42-year-old leggy lass exuded glamour on the runway and looked every inch the diva that she is.
The collection sets the stage with a theatrical variation of fabrics composed of lame, velvet metallics, tulle, Italian organza, Banarasi, metallic satin and much more. With a dramatic ethnic flair infused with contemporary details, the assortment of pieces carry concept lehengas, evening dresses, cocktail saris, evening gowns, crop tops and ball skirts.
