Barsaat actress Nimmi passes away; Mahesh Bhatt, Rishi Kapoor, Tabassum pay tribute

Yesteryear actress Nimmi breathe her last on Wednesday evening at the age of 88 due to prolonged illness. As per reports, her last rites will take place on Thursday. The talented actress was born as Nawab Banoo, however, Raj Kapoor gave her the screen name Nimmi and with this, she made her debut in film Barsaat. The actress has given many hits to Bollywood before saying alvida to the big screen in 1986 such as Mere Mehboob, Uran Khatola, Basant Bahar, Daag, Amar, among others.

During the conversation with her brother-in-law, Ijhar Hussain said that she was not keeping well from quite a few time. Recently, they celebrated her 88th birthday on 18 March. Talking about the last rites he said that they will be having it on Thursday i.e today but due to coronavirus they cant bring the body home. So they will take the body directly to the cemetery in Reay Road in Mumbai in the afternoon. Also, they are not sure as to how many people will gather for the funeral.

Mourning her death Bollywood celebs Rishi Kapoor, Mahesh Bhatt, Tabassum took to their Twitter and pour in a heartfelt tribute. Rishi wrote, “Thank you Nimmi aunty for all the blessings and love for Bobby on its premiere release. You were part of the RK family. Barsaat was your first film. Allha aapko Jannat naseeb kare. Ameen.”

 

Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt wrote, “You may win your heart's desire, but in the end, you are cheated of it by death.” Goodbye Nimmiji .”

 

Tabassum wrote, “Abhi pata chala hai humari pyari Nimmi apa is duniya se chale gayin hain, apa meri purani suhani yaadein”

While talking to her niece Sameera Khan she said that Nimmi had been in and out of the hospital for the last few years and had bee losing her memory too. All she remembered was her filmy days as she would discuss with us.

Well, it was overwhelming to see such a talented actress on screen and entertaining her viewers. It's sad that so soon she bid her loved ones goodbye. May her soul rest in peace!
