Amole Gupte reacts on Shoojit Sircar's tweet
A few days back, Shoojit Sircar raised the issue on Twitter to ban the reality shows based on children. Gupte gives his take.
The filmmaker was present at the promotional event for his next film called Sniff when he was asked to comment if he agrees to Shoojit Sircar's tweet. He said, "Of course, I agree and support what he (Shoojit Sircar) says. There should be a model so that kids are not misused in the industry and media. I shoot during holidays. You ask the kids to come on reality shows keep them with you for three months make them champions and in the next season, they are forgotten. Nobody thinks about them how much it affects them. I am not saying that hide their talent and keep it inside. There should be a model so that kids are not misused in the industry and media. the child has to sing till he is 70-80 years so, what is the point in giving them a big break and then forget them for years."
Later Gupte said he fails to understand the reason behind fewer children films being made in India. “It is true that films targeted towards children are not made in India. I guess we don’t respect our children. In European nations, if an adult film content is consumed at the rate of 100 (per cent) and if there is a children’s film, it rises to 300 to 400 as adults also go with their kids to watch the film. There are films for kids, but unfortunately, they are not in Hindi. We should make films here for children as it’s a big market. It turns out to be a great day for family" said the director.
Produced by Trinity Pictures Sniff is slated t release on August 25, 2017
