Akshay Kumar’s Toilet- Ek Prem Katha becomes highest grossing film
Akshay Kumar’s Independence Day release film Toilet- Ek Prem Katha has collected Rs. 131.50 crore net collection and plus. It is Akshay’s highest grossing film. The film featured Bhumi Pednekar, Divyendu Sharma, Anupam Kher and others and it collected Rs. 94.21 crore in a first week. The actor has been having a dream run at box office for a long time now. His last few films including Singh Is Bliing , Airlift, Housefull 3, Rustom and Jolly LLB 2 didn't only open well at box office but also managed to enter in Rs. 100 crore club. Most of his films have also done better business in overseas.
Toilet-Ek Prem Katha was based on the issue of open defection and some of the states have made it tax free too. The film received mixed reviews but it went on to become a hit due to positive word of mouth.
Akshay, who celebrated his 50th birthday last week, is busy shooting for his upcoming film Gold which is set to release on Independence Day next year. Before that his film 2.0 with Rajnikanth will be releasing on Republic Day and Padman with Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte will be releasing in April.
