Akshay Kumar appeals for tax exemption

Akshay wants his film Toilet Ek Prem Katha to be tax free

Akshay Kumar launched a special trailer for his upcoming film Toilet Ek Prem Katha, during the launch the actor honoured clean up marshals in Mumbai and spoke about various issues they face in their day to day life. The event saw his co-stars Bhumi Pednekar, Anupam Kher and Divyendu Sharma in presence. The actor was at his jovial best and introduced his heroine Bhumi ji, when the actress objected to it, he said, “Since you are Yashraj film heroine I need to call you with respect.” leaving everyone in splits.

While Akshay called his film a love story set against the backdrop of open defecation. When he was quizzed about if the makers are willing to apply for tax exemptions he said, “Yes we have applied for it. We have completed formalities and if it is approved then the film will be tax free.”

Earlier Prime Minister Narendra Modi had already expressed his happiness to Akshay for picking up such an issue. PM had started this campaign of Swatch Bharat Abhiyan as soon as he came in power two years ago. Censor Board chief Pehlaj Nihlani too had stated that Akshay’s film should be tax free.

Akshay also added, “I am not going to look at box office figure for this film. My only motto is that it should reach more and more people. So we are trying to reduce ticket prices for it.”

Akshay also revealed that the writers had approach many actors before him but no one accepted it and after four and half years when it reached him, he decided to do it.

The film is based on a real story and has been directed by Shree Narayan Singh. It is set to release on August 11.
