Abhay Deol on not doing films: No one is giving me work
Abhay Deol began his career with Imtiaz Ali directorial Socha Na Tha in 2005 and he was totally opposite to his family in acting. Even his choices of films have always been different from other Deol actors. The actor has last seen Shah Rukh Khan starrer Zero playing a cameo as Katrina Kaif's lover. In a recent interview with Mid-Day, the actor finally told why he has been away from the silver screen since a long time.
"No one is giving me any work. The kind of content I want to be part of, is hardly made. At the same time, I have not closed myself to anything. As long as it excites me, I am game for it." said Abhay Deol.
"It is a choice I have made. The kind of stories I like often comes from debutant directors. So, to ensure that the film sees the light of day is a long process in itself," he added.
Abhay Deol who just completed 14 years in the film industry said that he has no reason to celebrate this milestone in his career. "I haven't bagged awards or made any landmark project, so there won't be much to celebrate. If you go against the mainstream narrative, you do not get the [desired] visibility," said Dev D actor.
Abhay Deol had worked in several films like Socha Na Tha (2005), Ahista-Ahista (2006), Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011), Raanjhanaa (2013), Happy Bhaag Jayegi (2016), Aisha (2010), and others.
