A few white hair doesn't mean you are dead: Ratna Pathak Shah
'Lipstick Under My Burkha' has Ratna Pathak Shah playing a 55-year old widow who finds sexual awakening through phone romance with a young swimming coach.
During a recent media interaction when her character from the film was compared with the real life oldies who usually do not express such desires, the actress replied, "About time that people figure out we are not dead. Just because you happen to have a few white hair doesn't mean you are dead. People have desires all through their lives be it emotional or sexual and the fact that this kind of a story could be told and was even thought of I don't think it would have been possible 4-5 years ago. The fact that Alankrita (Shrivastava, the director of the film)) did and we are here today with this film which means something is going right. We are getting to tell different kinds of stories now."
Initially, the censor board had suggested that the film is banned, but the makers finally got its release on July 21. Apart from Ratna Pathak Shah, the film also stars Konkana Sen Sharma, Aahana Kumra and Plabita Borthakur.
