Man arrested for living at airport for three months; know bizarre reason

In a bizarre incident, a man was arrested at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport for allegedly living at the airport for three months.

The man was identified as Aditya Singh, who has been charged with felony criminal trespass after he was found in a restricted area of the airport, according to the Cook County State's Attorney's Office, CBS Chicago reports.

He was also charged with theft of less than $500. Aditya Singh was produced before the court on Sunday and was issued a $10,000 bond.

Why Singh stayed at airport?

According to cbsnews.com, Singh told police that he was afraid to fly due to the coronavirus pandemic, Assistant State's Attorney Kathleen Hagerty said in court.

When airport employees spotted him in a restricted area, they called police, The Associated Press reported.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Singh told authorities that he found an employee ID badge and that other passengers at the airport had given him food.

Reportedly, Singh was staying at the airport from October 19, 2020, to January 16, 2021. However, he has no criminal background.

Aditya Singh is a resident of Orange, California and he came to Chicago.
