Hair stylist Jawed Habib says this after receiving backlash for spitting on woman’s head
Hairstylist Jawed Habib landed himself into trouble after his video of spitting on a woman’s head went viral on social media. After receiving a severe backlash from netizens and a rap from the National Commission of Women (NCW), Habib has issued an apology statement through a video message on his social media account.
On Thursday, a video of the celebrity hairdresser has surfaced on the Internet, where he could be seen spitting on a woman’s head during a seminar.
While giving haircutting tips to the people during the seminar, Habib says, ”Mere baal gande hain. Gande kyun hain? Kyunki shampoo nahi lagaya hai. Dhyan se suno… Agar pani ki kami hai na…. (My hair is dirty. Why is it dirty? Because I have not used shampoo. Listen carefully… If you don’t have water. If there’s a scarcity of water)”. Habib then spits on the woman’s head, and walks towards the crowd, saying, “Abbe is thook me jaan hai (Hey, this spit has power).” On this, people sitting in the crowd can be heard clapping and laughing.
Taking his apology video on Instagram, Habib wrote in the caption, “Sorry…I mean it”. He apologized to people and said that it was such things are often done with a “humourous” intent during workshops.
He stated in the video, "Some sessions are too long, and we need to do such things to make sessions humourous. Still, if somebody is hurt, please accept my apologies."
This controversial incident took place during a seminar that took place in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar.
On Thursday, the National Commission for Women (NCW) also shared a tweet and said, “NCW has taken cognizance of the incident. Chairperson @sharmarekha has written to @dgpup to immediately investigate the veracity of this viral video and take appropriate action. The action taken must be apprised to the Commission at the earliest.
