Bihar: Villagers claim Mount Everest visible from Sitamarhi amid lockdown; pic goes viral
A picture of Mount Everest is doing the rounds on social media platform which proved the positive impact of coronavirus lockdown on nature and environment.
Due to the lockdown, there is a huge drop in pollution levels across the world. Due to which sky becomes clear, people can see the snow-capped mountain from plains. A picture of Mount Everest was also shared on social media in which claims that people can see the Everest from their village in Sitamarhi district.
The picture was taken from a house in Singhwahini village in the district, which has gone viral on social media.
The astounding image was shared by Riu Jaiswal, Mukhiya of Gram Panchayat Singhwahini on Twitter.
She shared the zoomed-in image of the Himalayan peak from her village and captioned it, “Mount Everest can be seen from her terrace.”
“Nature is balancing itself,” she added. (translated from Hindi to English).
Ritu further said that the lower mountains in the Himalayan range close to Nepal were sometimes visible from the village but it is the first time that Mount Everest is visible from her village.
The picture of Mount Everest has brought several eyes, including comments.
After seeing the image, a user asked Ritu that “how she could ascertain it was Everest and not any other range.”
Ritu said, “Because definitely when we can see the snowy peak of the Himalayas, the highest ones can only be seen and Everest is in the northeast of our village and this pic is of the northeast. And my husband in their childhood used to see Everest in the 80s. So we are sure that its the same.”
However, the image has raised many eyebrows and many have asked whether it’s real or not.
