Anti-CAA protests: Bangladesh suspends internet services along Indian border citing ‘security concerns’

Around 10 million people have been affected after Bangladesh suspended mobile internet services along the Indian border citing security concerns. amid anti-CAA protests.

According to reports, Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has ordered to suspend mobile networks along the borders with India citing security reasons.

Four mobile operators-- Grameenphone, Teletalk, Robi and Banglalink have closed around 2,000 base transceiver stations in these areas, reported Bangladesh media.

As per reports, the BTRC has said network coverage in the border areas will have to be suspended until further notice 'for the sake of the country’s security in the current circumstances'.

A high-level meeting of the government took this decision, following which the instructions were issued, BTRC Chairman Jahurul Haque told to Bangladesh news bdnews24.

However, the suspension on the internet ban is temporary, Bangaladesh media reported.
