The United States Government will reportedly be ending its years-long search for a new headquarters for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

The news comes after real estate developers had sought to bid on the endeavor and after attempts by the federal agencies during both the Trump and Obama Administrations to secure funding.

According to The Washington Post, officials within the General Services Administration (GSA) have confirmed the news, but an official announcement is yet to be made.

FBI officials have been expressing their concern over the headquarters 'J. Edgar Hoover Building' being vulnerable to attacks for a long time.

House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer called the incident an alarming development and slammed the Trump's Administration for putting the safety and the security of the nation at risk.

Officials also suggest that the absence of lasting leadership at the FBI and GSA may have hurt the push for funding.
