A Pakistani Journalistwas was abducted in 2015 from Lahore while she was on her way to work. 26 years old, Zeenat Shazadi went missing for 2 years since then. She was working with Daily Nai Khaber and also Metro News Channel at the time of her abduction. As reported, Zeenat Shahzadi was working on an Indian citizen’s case named Hamid Ansari, On behalf of Hamid’s mother, Fauzia, she had filed an application about this in Supreme court after which she was abducted on 19 August.
The Journalist’s family had assumed her to be dead but at last she had been rescued by security forces. Zeenat was rescued on 18 October near the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, according to officials. It has been revealed that some non-actors and enemy agencies had kidnapped her back then.
"Zeenat Shahzadi today has been reunited with her family in Lahore and we are happy for her safe recovery. I am thrilled that she is home safe," said rights activist Beena Sarwar. Fauzia was happy to hear the news of Zeenat being rescued, she said,“I was asked earlier that between Zeenat and my son whom I would want to be released first and I had said Zeenat. Today that wish has come true. I feel relieved because somewhere I feel responsible for what she had to go through.’’
Zeenat Shahzadi was trying to help out Hamid Ansari who was in police custody for illegally entering Pakistan to meet a girl. Shahzadi was in contact with her mother and went out of the way to help her. Hamid was imprisoned for three years after Zeenat went missing. However, the culprits of the case are yet unidentified, investigation is going on to find the same.
