Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) crashed in a residential area in Karachi on Friday. Initial reports indicates that there were in the region of 90 to 100 people onboard the aircraft that took off from Lahore and was heading towards Karachi International Airport.
Videos and images from the crash location in Pakistan display a thick cloud of smoke rising in the middle of residential area as people rush to their roofs trying to find out what had happened. The reason behind the crash is still unknown.

PIA spokesperson Abdul Sattar has confirmed the crash. Another video shows hundreds of residents of the residential area where the aircraft crashed leaving their homes and flocking to the street. An official told media outlets that an Army Quick Reaction Force and the Pakistan Rangers Sindh troops have reached the crash site and relief and rescue efforts are underway.
Pakistan Armed Force spokesperson Major General Babar Iftikhar took to Twitter and wrote Army aviation helicopters have been dispatched over the area to assess the damage. In addition, urban search and rescue teams are also being sent out to the crash site.
