Liverpool's comedian Sir Ken Dodd dies at 90 just two days after saying 'I do' to 40-year-old relationship
The legendary comedian, Sir Ken Dodd, has passed away on Monday at the age of 90. The Liverpudlian comedian was best known for long standup shows and “tickling stick”.
It is believed that Dodd created the Diddy Men, 3 feet tall creature wearing slightly oversized adult clothes in flamboyant style including tall furry hats. The funnyman had secretly married his long-term partner, Anne Jones of 40 years just two at the home in Liverpool' where he spent his entire life.
It was after Dodd was discharged from Liverpool Heart and Chest hospital less than a fortnight after being treated for a severe chest infection that he tied a knot.
He made a debut as a comedian in the year 1954 and since then there has been no looking back.
In the year 1960, he made it into the Guinness Book of Records for telling 1,500 jokes in three and a half hours. Besides, being an excellent comedian, he was a chart-topping singer too. His single 'Tears' was the third highest-selling song of the 1960s and his signature tune Happiness left an imprint on a million heart.
He was best known for seldom taking holiday, throughout the 1970s and 80s, he was a regular face on TV.
However, as it is said fame doesn't last for long so did it happen with the funnyman. He was under 23-day trial in the year 1989 for eight counts of tax fraud spanning 15 years and which involved more than £800,000. Later, he made a come back in 1990 and won a British Comedy Lifetime Achievement Award.
His publicist Robert Holmes said: 'They got the registrar and were married in the house. He died two days later on Mother's Day.'

I saw him live 5 years ago, at one of his mammoth 7 hour live shows. He was 85 then, and still at the top of his game.
